NV / 92+ puntos The NV Arboledilla Poniente Manzanilla Pasada En Rama, from the Saca Junio 2017, is a Manzanilla aged in the cooler side of the Arboledilla winery, in the west facing the sea, where they keep the windows open to capture the sea breezes. This is the usual configuration of the Sherry wineries, but what is extraordinary here is that this cave is 180 meters long and the contrast from one side to the other is greater than in most wineries. The wines aged in the east and the wines aged in the west are very different, and they wanted to capture those differences and show them to the public. This Poniente is a little more powerful and concentrated, showing lots of esparto grass aromas and a dusty sensation. It has more mid-palate presence. In principle, this wine's character should be the other way round, but in reality the final character of the wine depends on the time of year when it is bottled. This was bottled in the summer, after three months of warm weather. What is fascinating is how different these two wines are, and it is possible that future bottlings will be different from these and may not follow the style shown here. Usually wines are blended to erase such differences, so it is unusual to see wines like these, where the objective is to show these differences. The two bottles are only sold together, never separate. This was bottled in June 2017 with some five years under flor, from the soleras from Solear and bottled 'en rama'. They made 600 bottles, but the wine was blended from different casks, not selected from only one cask. Both wines are very good, give pleasure and have personality and a similar quality level. It's more a matter of personal taste which one you prefer. Today I have a slight preference for this Poniente.Robert Parker The Wine Advocate / Luis Gutiérrez
