It was good to taste the 2022 Plácet Valtomelloso, the only white produced here, with a little bit of time, as most of the time I tasted it too young. It has settled in bottle, and the nose has clarity, nothing reductive about it, and the balsamic notes so prevalent in its infancy seem to have receded to give way to Mediterranean tones of fennel and straw, white fruit and flowers with a faint spicy twist. It's round and juicy, with the ripeness of a warm and dry year. It has 13.5% alcohol, a balanced and elegant mouthfeel and a dry, chalky finish. It fermented in oval oak foudres with indigenous yeasts where it matured for five months. 16,600 bottles produced. It was bottled in Mach 2023.
