The single-vineyard 2021 Las Loberas was produced with the old-vine Garnacha from a plot at 700 meters in altitude on shallow sandy pink granite soils, the first of the red vineyards harvested the second week of September. It fermented with 20% full clusters in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in one 800-liter oak vat and one 225-liter oak barrel for 14 months, including malolactic. It's super spicy, with notes of nutmeg, pepper and cinnamon—very attractive. This tends to be the riper wine, as it’s the first vineyard to be harvested. The vineyard has old vines with low yields, and it’s a delicate vineyard; but in 2021, they hit the spot at preserving the freshness and balance, showing good ripeness and development of aromas and flavors. It has 14.5% alcohol but is harmonious with good acidity and fine tannins. 1,200 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2022. - May 31, 2023 / Luis Gutiérrez -
